About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Python and TypeScript backend developer who thrives at the intersection of AI, automation, and financial data. We’re an early-stage startup with a fast-paced environment. You’ll play a key role in scaling our backend systems, building secure financial data pipelines, optimizing performance, and developing new features that power our AI-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and optimize our backend architecture and API for scalability and performance.

- Integrate APIs from banks, payment processors, and accounting platforms (Plaid, Stripe, PayPal, etc.).

- Collaborate closely with the front-end and marketing team to implement data workflows and automation logic.

- Write clean, well-documented code and manage version control.

- Participate in code reviews, architecture planning, and sprint retrospectives.

- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues efficiently.

Required Skills & Experience

- 4+ years of backend development experience (Python (Django) and Typescript).

- Strong background in AI-enabled (RAG, AI agent) or data-heavy fintech applications.

- Experience with APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous data processing.

- Familiarity with cloud environments (ideally GCP).

- Experience with PostgreSQL and complex SQL queries.

- Understanding microservices architecture and containerization (Docker).

- Experience integrating third-party financial APIs (e.g., Plaid, Stripe).

- Strong grasp of data privacy, encryption, and security best practices.

- Ability to collaborate with front-end (React) developers.

Nice to Have

- Experience working in early-stage SaaS startups.

- Familiarity with accounting or financial data structures.

- 70K–100K/year depending on experience, skills, and location.

- Flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Europe, strong preference is for Lisbon-based developers that can be in office a couple days a week.
